"this is an excellent chess machine for the money! it was programmed by franz morsch, one of the top ten programmers in the world. the program is extremly tatical, however the endgame program is very weak compared to the top programs. the rating is around 2000 to 2080 elo depending on the sources that have tested it in the past."
"The first version of Travel Champion was around 2060 USCF Elo, rated by the USCF in fast games. It was based in fritz 1 by Morsch. nevertheless,Travel Champion 2100 is based in fritz 2 and should to be a lot stronger than tyhat, maybe 2200 USCF Elo. In any case it is a wonderful litle marvel, with all the frills and necesary function for a so cheap machine. Ending is weak, truth, compared with the standar of actual top programs, but is not "that" weak compared with average stand alone units on the 80'S or even with the average capabilities of club player."
"I was impressed by this computer because Tiger 8 had a very hard time against it in a 4 games match 2 years ago.In Paris, when I had Frans in front of me for the Tiger/Fritz game, I asked him if he had programmed the TC2100. He answered yes. Then I asked if it was a version of Fritz and, as I remember, he answered no. I didn't try to go further, because I didn't want to bother him with my silly questions."
