O tabuleiro DGT pode ser conectado no computador mediante entrada serial ou USB. Se o modelo do tabuleiro for serial, a conexão será de 9 pinos, conforme figura a seguir:

A conexão serial, lado direito, deverá ser conectada no tabuleiro DGT juntamente com a conexão tipo p2, que deverá ser plugada no relógio DGT. Caso queira conectar a saída serial na entrada USB, lado esquerdo da foto, o usuário deverá usar um adaptador (serial to USB), facilmente encontrado em lojas de informática, como na figura a seguir:
A desvantagem do tabuleiro com saída serial, quando comparado com os tabuleiros DGT USB, é que o primeiro deve ser energizado com 9 volts mesmo quando conectado ao computador ao contrário do DGT – USB que é energizado pelo próprio cabo USB, 5 volts. O DGT USB apenas requer energização, caso não esteja conectado ao computador, e neste caso o adaptador será de 5 volts conforme a foto extraída do website da “Schach E. Niggemann” como a seguir:
DGT can be connected in the computer by serial or USB. If the model of the DGT is serial, the connection will be of 9 pins serial.
The serial connection, on the right side, must be connected in the DGT chessboard (with the p2) that will be connected into DGT clock. If you wish to connect the serial in the USB port (left side), the user will have to use an adapter (serial to USB), easily found in computer´s store.
The disadvantage of serial, when compared with DGT USB, is that the first must be used with 9 volts adapter even when connected in the computer. On the other side, DGT - USB is energized by cable USB, 5 volts.
